HISTORY
The art of applying metal sheets to wood dates back to 2600 BC in Egypt, when silver was valued higher than gold and brass. This ancient craft evolved over centuries and reached India, where artisans began overlaying thick silver sheets on carved wood giving birth to exquisite silver handcrafted furniture.
Initially made for royal families, this rare technique continues to define luxury handcrafted furniture in modern India. Today, it inspires elegant silver furniture collections and sacred silver pooja room designs that preserve India’s timeless artistry.
DESCRIPTION
This Khenshu silver lamp is handcrafted from old-building teakwood, the base is sculpted into a classical column silhouette three-tier pedestal, fluted body, and lotus-inspired crown each detail carved by master artisans to reflect Indian heritage design.
Once carved, the entire structure is hand-cladded with pure silver sheet, a hallmark of Khenshu’s signature luxury silver furniture. Every groove, petal, and ridge is carefully hand-beaten and polished to achieve a rich, lustrous sheen. The silver texture beautifully complements the cream lampshade, which softens the light and adds a warm, serene glow to the room.
This lamp stands gracefully in modern living rooms, traditional drawing rooms, luxury suites, and especially silver pooja rooms, where handcrafted silver pieces hold cultural significance. Whether styled as a pair or as a single statement piece, this lamp elevates the mood of any interior.

PROCESS AND CRAFT
Each piece of silver handcrafted furniture is a result of meticulous artistry and traditional Indian craftsmanship. The process begins with skilled wood carving, where premium old building teakwood is shaped into intricate designs. Once the base form is perfected, pure silver sheets are carefully hammered and hand-applied over the surface using age-old gilding techniques.
Once the base is ready, pure silver sheets are carefully hammered and molded onto the wooden surface a traditional technique that gives birth to timeless silver furniture.
To ensure durability and long-lasting shine, every piece is lacquered with a protective coating that prevents oxidation and tarnish, keeping the silver’s luster intact for years.
CARE
To maintain the beauty of your silver handcrafted furniture, clean it regularly with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Avoid moisture, harsh chemicals, or abrasive cleaners that can tarnish the silver finish. For long-lasting shine, gently polish with a specialized silver polish when needed.
